Websites

These are sites I visit often, hope one or all is helpful to you.

  • Edutopia is my favorite teacher web-site.  It is dedicated to 21st century education.  The site focuses not just what is new in education, but on what is working.  The site has its own research branch that vets new ideas and pedagological practice.  Technology is just part of the many topics covered by this site.

  • WE are TEACHERS is a web-site to all things teaching.  The site offers information, lessons, help on almost all areas of the teaching profession.  The section on technology often contains new applications or websites that have been vetted by classroom teachers.  It is a great site to check out whenever you need inspiration on any area of teaching.

  • Classtools has a plethora of web-based tools for teachers and students.  I love checking out this site as the top tools change.  Great place to start, if looking for a tool.  The site is constantly being updated.

  • The Teaching Channel has hundreads of inspirational and learning videos for teachers.  See new programs, ideas, topics brought to life by our colleagues from around the world.  Teachers can set their own programming options which allows the site to suggest videos or send updates when something new on a topic of interest to you is added.  A great way to see technology in action.

  • The Last Backpack is a technology blog.  The site highlights success stories of teachers using technology in their classrooms, suggests a new app almost everyday and encourages teachers as they use technology in their everyday lives both inside and out of the classroom.

About this site

This website was created as the capstone project for my Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program trip to Singapore from January to May of 2015.  It is a reflection of what I learned from conversations, observations and particiapation in 4 Singaporean schools and informal discussions with numerous educators. Information from my own school, and my personal journey into technology implementation are included.  The goal is to create a space for teachers to learn and share their knowledge, questions, and perhaps frustratons of using technology as a tool in education.
